The "DO's" and "DON'TS" of Couponing

Saving should be simple, right?  Not always, unless you have a plan and stay organized and committed to that plan, you sometimes can go a bit overboard, or actually spend more than you are now.

DO

* Start with small amounts of coupons and add on as you feel more comfortable.
* Get organized. (I will post about binders this week ;-) )
* Make a list and stick with it!
* Total up your list before going, check that it matches your end totals.
* Count your coupons before checking out, match that number to the receipt to assure all of them rang up.
* Stock up on rock bottom deals your family uses a lot of.
* Get all your free items. (Even if you don't have a cat, and you get free cat food, donate to a shelter, or share with family)
* Make a weekly menu ( this helps with using products you bought, and not having waste)
* Know your prices, what's high, what's low.
* Keep Coupon Policies for stores you frequent with you.( I will be placing copies of the most popular stores on here this week).
* Eat a good meal before heading out to shop :-)!
* Enjoy Saving!

DON'T

* Buy something just because you have a coupon
* Copy Coupons you print out (they each have a special code on them and can be tracked back your computer)
* Try to slip a coupon by that isn't for the item you purchased (most registers will beep when item isn't purchased)
* Restart your printing Que to get multiple coupons, this will not change the codes on the coupon (once again this will be traced back to you)
* Get frustrated, it does take some work at first, but then you will get the hang of it, and really enjoy saving!
* This is a BIG one for me, DON't bring your husband unless he is dedicated to saving too, or like mine, you will end up with more in your cart than expected!! LOL :-)

I know i am forgetting something here, but this is definitely a good start!

Happy Couponing!
